In a news release on July 27, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced its commitment to tackling the growing issue of opioid use. HHS plans to provide funding to community health centers to expand services for those with substance use disorders, to provide funding to 11 states to expand medication assisted treatment services, and to work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to provide guidance on implementing evidence-based treatment services.
